Over the weekend I was walking on the Barrow Way and used a spot near the boat club carpark for a couple of night's and got in conversion with one of the organizers of the regatta who informed me that they were trying with the council to open a motorhome park at 52.539439,-6.955486 to raised some funds for the clubs (€10 a night ) I gave him some information so we'll sees how it goes in the mean time we are welcome to park there now, while they are getting it together.
I met a few people UK ,French,Irish both there and in St Mullins. passed out a few flyers.
Lovely area to wild it.
Parked up for a night in the Irish Man Pub carpark in Carlow, €3 to get out. Not really suitable for a big van or a nervous pilot, challenging entrance and was still packed the next morning. The band wasn't bad enough in the Carpe Diem (next door. ) to keep me awake.

Hi Sprinter....on the 2 occasions that I've been to Graiguenamanagh I've parked in the public car park next to the Scout Den / Rowing Club. Last time we were hassled by some lads in cars late at night so haven't been back but would love to do so as it's a great spot. The location co-ordinates you have look as if it's on the opposite side of the bridge to the rowing club. When you come down the main street you turn left just before the bridge and go down the quay to the rowing club / scout den. The co-ordinates suggest turning right not left. Have I got that right.

Yes that's it you turn right before the bridge , along by the big empty building ,trough the graveled area and over the small bridge into a green open space.
There is also a planning application for a camping/glamping park in the field before the boat clubs carpark.

Have to agree with you on that, we stayed there loads of times. Then one night we had the same problem that you had, haven't used it since.
To be honest Saint Mullins & Clashganny, are far better places to stay. You can walk from St Mullins to Graiguenamanagh & Back great walk by the way.

It is a great walking area we walked from St Mullins to Leighlin bridge, the cafe and pub in St Mullins and toilet facilities in Clashganny make them nice parking spots.
There were 5 parked in the carpark Friday/Saturday,also 1over in the new spot Saturday. The carpark was busy Friday when I got there so I got in by the wall beside the field gate and then didn't move. Saw a couple of cruisers showing off their Elbow's ,but also a squad car a couple of times,so maybe the are aware of them causing trouble.
I saw two of the 5 in St Mullins. When we started our walk on Saturday

The cycle along the river bank is terrific, we also did a group kayak trip down the river which was wonderful. Would love to stay there again so you're post gives me some hope and a bit more confidence about going back there to over night.

Where do you stay in Clashganny, in the car park? I was down there back in June and it looked as if a few vans had gone through the gate and parked in front of the toilet block. I think they were a group of canoeists so maybe they had gotten permission.

Just in the carpark, there is a guy has a canoe business out of the container.

Just to let everyone know, a new campsite has opened just 10 mins. walk from Graiguenamanagh. Brandon Hill Campsite is at the foot of Brandon Hill as the name suggests and while it is a little bit rough around the edges being new it is an alternative for those who don't want to wild camp in the town. www.glampingkilkenny.ie The new activities hub in the centre of the town would make a great aire and by all accounts plans are afoot. There were 2 vans parked there this weekend. We parked in the car park next to the rowing club / scout den and it was fine, no issues. The toilets in the old rowing club are open 24 / 7 at the moment, you can also grab a cold shower after a swim if you wish.

The hub @ Graiguenamanagh is open for Motorhome parking at €10 per night.
Currently it is parking only.
Later in the year, the next phase will be hardstand pitches, possible EHU, snd waste water dumping.
The onsite building contains toilets and showers for river based activities, but it is available for a group of motorhomes by prior arrangements.

That's great it hasn't taken them long to get organized, anyone going there keep in mind its a very sharp turn left if coming in over the bridge

They have planning permission in for a new entrance from the New Ross side.
The future investments will be made if the site increases its turn over.
If we support this community, they will in turn, invest into the aire.

How or where do you pay. Does someone collect the €10? This is a great spot and deserves to be supported.

Someone calls around to collect.
During the busy season, I believe that it will be staffed.
However at one end of the building there is a sign in a window advertising hire of the premises with a mobile number.
My advice would be to ring this number and make arrangements.
It might not be any harm carry a few empty envelopes and arrange to leave payment in a letter box, with your reg number.

The map says graiguenamanagh
But if you Google it this is what you get
Graiguenamanagh or Graignamanagh is a town in County Kilkenny, Ireland.

Yes that's what I was thinking, I called by one evening in the car but it was in the dark, and saw some work going on down near the river.. I'm supprized they haven't uploaded a drone video to show the new layout.
