2002 Ducato Imobilisier

I was away at the weekend and seen a fellow Motorhomer having trouble starting his 2002 Ducato 2.8jtd,
Checked the usual diesel air fiter etc but no start.
One lad suggested it was the imobiliser but Im not sure there is an imobiliser on 2002 Ducato.

Does any body know if there is?

It went eventually but we were none the wiser as to what was his problem

Maybe it was something to do with the battery in the key , if the ignition needs to get a signal from the key

It didnt have a fob built into key Dave,
It had central locking but it worked with key in the door similar to the way my own one does

Mine is a 2004. Similar key to yours. Mine has an immobiliser

My 2003 Boxer/ducato had only a key when it came, when I had the burglar alarm fitted and they gave me the remote and I know the brain is on top of the glove box under the dash . This controls the fuel cut off.

I think from memory that there is a key chip form of immobiliser and that is why I had a brown master key. The Code system can be problematic and many have had the system deactivated.
