Take a look at all the best off grid solar gear at www.lightharvestsolar.com
We just got in these Battle Born Lithium batteries in and are looking forward to giving them a workout. This is an exciting time for off grid living because these batteries are so powerful that it only takes a small battery to really push the big stuff like toaster ovens, induction cooktops, coffee pots, hot water heaters, microwaves, air conditioners, etc. The biggest of many problems with lead acid is that you need about 500 pounds of batteries to power the very common 1000-1500 Watt appliances. This battery is rated for 1200 Watts continuous and will hopefully have no problem with 1500 W for short bursts. With the proper solar system, this practically obsoletes propane. About the only thing a good solar setup can't do is electric heat, which is tough because when you need it the most, the days are the shortest and the weather is the nastiest. We're looking forward to seeing what these Battle Born LiFePO4 can do, so far so good.

I'm guessing you would also need a specialist charging unit to go with it. They look like the future, maybe more affordable in 10 years time.

You need to read this article on aandncaravans website. Bear in mind he does not sell batteries but repairs chargers etc.

http://www.aandncaravanservices.co.uk/lithium-batteries.php

I would suggest he is perhaps one of the most knowledgeable and helpful people on the subject of Motorhome electrics and chargers etc in particular. He has just challenged the NCC battery accreditation scheme which as anyone would suspect was only a marketing scheme. Have a read of this thread for a flavour of what has been going on.

http://forums.outandaboutlive….he-/49562/

Bear in mind the original thread is locked as some of the statements were scaring the forum which is owned by MMM who also survive through advertising. Curiously it has had an enthusiastic welcome by Alpha batteries who are keen to be at the forefront of a more open and honest approach by the battery industry.

You will also find on the site recommendations for the best lived and therefore value for money batteries. Lithium is still some way from being that. Look for details on Varta and Bosch silver and powerframe for the market leaders.

Wow just seen the ad
Yes they look good but not for me at that price, which means that they are dropping in price which is good news
Although they have min 3000 recycles they are still only guaranteed for 3 years.

Would say great if you are permanently living off grid and had a few but for most people who only want for camper or Motorhome for leisure will stick with the old fashioned sort at £100 a pop.

A lot of interesting reading in those topics. I thought Banner were out of favour but from reading that they recommend them. Have had little problems with my Banners and they seem to perform well, although there is 200watt of Solar strapped to them.

Buying new batteries soon for my RV, probably 3 x 110AH.
