To many camper vans in one place for prolonged periods will always lead to some form of objections unfortunately from locals or visitors and then media/ councils become involved.
We all know that councillors will talk trough there own while licking up to the rear end of the ones they think have voted for them.
Name and print they day there were 40 campervan at the hook.
What is required is parking bays, in order to encourage people not to park parallel to the shore line and off the grass.

Looking at the webcam at 07.30 this morning there's about a dozen camper vans there and that's on a Wednesday. It is conceivable that there could be up to 40 there on a recent weekend.
Heavy rain and a good on shore wind would sort that one out

We have given up going to those type of places during the summer months, we have gone back to using sensible priced campsites and Aires, we stayed in Norman view and the over flow field at the campsite in Duncannon last month both for €10 per night, lovely parking areas only a short distance from the hook, we have also avoided dicks field lately, just too many Motorhomes, and the possibility of not getting parking when you get there. I think Facebook is the cause of a lot of these places been flooded out, some blame the apps but I think that’s un true, they are only used as a tool for finding them, they have already made up their mind where they want to go.

On Fethard Aire this minute going home today. Blue sky, sun shining and a big “field of gold” stretching in front of us.
Only 4 MHs, we are on field as Eirebus says only €10. There are 7 nice wide hardstanding with grass between them, they might be €12, but have ehu and that might be extra.
Water, grey and black disposal.

Last weekend the southeast Dive Rally was on there may have been 39to40 vans in the hook clubhouse field.
I was down myself at the Hook And the lighthouse was packed, the area outside was packed with cars and vans ,but there was not 30to40camper Van's, there were caravans and campers parked along the grass parallel to the shore, which I think is very inconsiderate because it dose block the view of the Dunmore East shoreline,
But the answer is simply, as we all know put in put in proper parking bays and in force the law.

Some folks just hate to see other people happy, don't they?
Surely, with the weather you'll have a busier than usual season but I don't think they should take any measurements, I'll all be back to normal in a few weeks or when the skies break again.
Should we kick everyone out of the beaches because they're blocking the view of the water? they're just too pale and out of shape for my taste (???)
Its just politicians & media doing what they do to win popularity.
Probably because one oul biddy is making enough noise to get noticed.
While they mentioned the area was "choked with 30-40 campers" they neglected to add there were also probably 80-100 cars blocking the view and littering the place...
Speaking of litter - Up in Galway last week we noticed a UK registered T4 parked by a small beach, and to the rear of the van they had their own version of the "2 minute beach clean" sign with a couple of litter picker sticks & plastic bags for anyone who wanted to do their bit and pick up a bit of litter. I thought that was very clever.

That's very nice but it's indirectly part of the problem as well.. same as the dole, if you give money to the lazy they'll never ever work. If you clean up after the ones making the mess, they'll never stop making the mess in the first place.
Ireland is in great need of a massive education change in regards to littering. I see it every single day, from kids to grown ups, but definitely needs a change in the education system to try to convert the kids. Maybe in a few years you'll be able to break the pattern.
Anyone, I think they should do something about all these people coming down and looking at the scenery. pretty soon there will be nothing left to see  .maybe a barrier at the small roundabout will help keep the place, just for us local landowners.

Found ourselves doing the same Pat.how ironic is it that we are now being pushed back into the campsites because of too many motorhomes. I remember a weekend in August ,two years ago,we were in dicks field along with 14 other motorhomes. All changed now.

Presently we are in france and over the last 5 nights having been using camper contact app for overnight parking. This app also highlights the maximum parking places available and should your ignore this, a fellow motorhomer will give you, the marching orders to move on.
We experienced this on last Saturday night in Lorient.
However we were allowed to used the freshin up facilities before we left.
Maybe a maximum parking place number can be established by our parking app developers and show the main stream public that we are more responsible people.

We are writing to you in connection with an article under the above headline which appeared in the July 24th. edition of the New Ross Standard.
It should be understood that motorhome based tourism is a relatively new and rapidly growing segment of the tourist and holiday market here in Ireland.
At this time Ireland is some 20 years behind mainland Europe in the provision of appropriate facilities for this market. However, in recent time there have been positive developments in the provision of such facilities, with the provision of motorhome parking areas by some private enterprises. Public funded facilities have also been provided, most notable of these is the 30 bay parking area with a service bay provided Cobh and Glanmire District Municipal Council at Cobe and a similar development by Waterways Ireland in conjunction with Galway County Council at their marina in Portumna, Waterford Council have also provided a services bay plus some parking bays to serve Waterford City.
We would encourage Wexford County Council and its councillors to pursue the provision of regulated parking areas where demand exists, such parking areas should be regulated by marked out parking bays specific to motorhomes and managed by the enactment of appropriate bye-laws, Cobh in County Cork is an excellent example of a properly managed motorhome parking area.
For your information below is a link to a discussion of Motorhomecraic, Ireland premier website and forum, about the above article. Attached is a couple of brief summary documents which explains the concept of a motorhome parking area, also know as an Aire a description adapted from the French language.

Don’t forget Wexford Council also own the campsite @ Ferrybank
They could create an Aire type motorhome parking place there, as an alternative offering, priced at about €10 p/n for those not requiring the facilities of a campsite. Such a dual offering is often found common in Europe.

40 minutes down the Road , the Campsite in Duncannon have Aire type parking and you can use the facilities of the Campsite. I think we should be plugging for those forward thinking Campsites

Anyone know what's going on in Hook today, alot of council looking vans and trucks about, possibly tar macadam or fencing, about 4 caravans there still too
We were there a few weeks ago, by the looks of it, several Traveller families have set up camp there with their equipment for laying tarmac driveways.
Maybe they'll pave it before they leave...
They are either over on holidays for the heat.
Or to get away from the heat over the water.

DID I SAY THAT?
I want to take back my comments about Duncannon Campsite, it appeared they are now backward thinkers, Charging €35 a night for the aire type parking.
