Ducato speedo illumination problem...My solution!

My speedo is difficult to see during the day like a lot of others but fine at night.
My solution to the problem was to buy a little USB light from Ikea (£2) and fit a USB socket (£7) close by. I think it works fine and goes off and on with the ignition, also an extra phone charge point where I want it.

If you van is 2015 onwards there was a recall to get this problem rectified. We had ours done by Fiat when it was three months old.

Very good👍
I usually drive our Motorhome with the side lights on during the day and when I do the dash lights dim (Renault Master) I am not sure if a light would help in out case, I must check it out though, Thanks for sharing your solution.

Have you gone through the settings to see if you can turn off the auto dim,
Or manually adjust to bright and it may save it for you.

John it doesn't bother me that much, the speed part is fine, just the Mileage , time clock, fuel gauge and water temperature are almost invisible when I turn on the lights during the day, I am too lazy to go fiddling with settings :D

Thank you all for your valid points and advice. The lights are on all the time and the settings are set at their brightest, yes I can see everything if I squint and stare at it, the hood over the clocks is the problem, it stops the natural light from providing the illumination, and, wearing varifocals doesn't help after fifty odd years of driving. My little light will make things easier.
Incidentally are any of you aware that your iPhone has a very good digital speedo app which is free, if you select full screen from the options and turn it landscape you have big red digits which can show in mph or km/h just set it on the dash in front of you.
