We visited a camping shop in Galway last week and while we were browsing, my daughter grabbed my arm and dragged me over to have a look at a deckchair which she proclaimed was the "best she's ever sat in".
After sitting into it myself, I couldn't disagree! It was likely the most comfortable deckchair I've ever sat into. Built to last and even a bit too wide for my generous girth :-), but it felt like a proper armchair.

A bit spendy @ €80, and not all that compact when folded up, but given the comfort level, I'm seriously thinking about buying at least one of these... Its like a proper armchair.

I would love a chair that I don't sink down into. They give my back bother after half an hour! Any suggestions?

Halfords have something similar called a moon chair (check Halfords.com as not listed on the Halfords.ie site). They were €36 each recently and I bought two.

Very comfortable.

I have found that chairs are getting narrower  my main problem is getting out of the damned things without breaking them

Try the Halfords chair. It's massive
