Confessions first - I am riddled with guilt and hoping that posting about it will ease some of the pain.
Theres a bog road between Edenderry and Rathangan, that has claimed the undercarraiges of umpteen vehicles. Even with a lot of care you can be bounced and dropped at a moments notice. It's also narrow, with poor layby areas - and generally a nightmare!!
It's 11.8km long and you'd be forgiven for counting every one of them. Why the post you ask? Apart from being a road built on sponge, dedicated to chewing metal The picture is what awaits you at the end of it.... ! (the google car wouldn't even get through it!)
which will result in 22kms being spent bouncing around your cab and making dust of any delf not bubblewrapped in the press!...to get back to the roundabout - to go the other unrestricted way. It's called Father Paul Murphy street - if you see it on your sat nav, turn!!!!
The reason for the guilt is that I was driving down through it in the car and saw an 07 Rn camper heading the other way but didn't even think of trying to warn them as I was watching the road for shadows of dips! (apologies if you're reading this!) - to be fair, they may well live in one of the houses and knew exactly what was going on - but I couldn't help but feel their pain if not... !
Also - there's one sign - at the roundabout 11km away - but I think it's only on one side of the roundabout! and the only sign...
so there you go.. glad to get that off my chest - and hopefully will save at least one of you the hassle!!!
