Thetford discontinued spares

Hi. The powerboard on my Thetford fridge is dead. Thetford no longer stock the part (627001 for a N145ADL, in case anybody has one lying around!). I have tried Google and eBay to no avail. Some sites have them listed, but are out of stock.

Does anybody have an idea where else I could try before I have to dump an otherwise good fridge?

Dumping the fridge is a very expensive option , ring some of the dealer's on here and see if you can use another type of board

Have you contacted Thetford to find out is there a modern board that would supersede your one?


I have, and there isn't. Their suggestion was to replace the fridge! It is disappointing - while the fridge is 13 years old, it has not been used a lot in that time.

That board looks like it is doing a fairly simple power distribution/ switching. Have you tested the fuses? I count 3 that should be easy to rule out.

Yes, I had a reliable technician look at it. The scorch mark was a give away anyway!

When we had the caravan, we use to take a seasonal pitch in Kilmuckridge. Local guy was storing caravans and shifting them onto and off site for people. As a sideline he done alot of repairs on fridges, chargers etc.
He was able to do this as he had a scrap business specialising in caravans.
Murphy scrap metal based in ballyedmond co wexford was what he traded as. Now its 3 or 4 years since we were in those parts of Wexford but I reckon it worth a phone call or two.

This doesn't help you in anyway, but what a contrast.

An american fridge made by Norcold, which has links to Thetford. 27 years old and I can pick up a main power board from loads of places in America for less than $100.

Come to think of it, I think i seen your board only it was Norcold, it's probably the same thing. Looking now...............

Nope that seems to be a Norcold Fridge Vent. It's maybe worth investigating though in case it's named something else. there are a few UK American fridge spare parts folk who might know.

Not only does it not help, it makes me very sad! Seriously though, it is very unfortunate that I can't get a part for a 13 year old fridge from a major manufacturer. You don't expect a 2 grand appliance to have such built in obsolescence.

Thanks Ally - that was a good suggestion. However, it does not seem to be available under a Norcold badge either. I can find every other part in the fridge, which makes a second hand power board a very valuable item - I might start collecting them!

I had the very same issue with a control board on a fridge. Dometic. No longer available at 13 years old. My mate has a 28 year old norcold and got a board no problem
