No Sparky - No Lighty Electrolux RM4217

Sorry if this is too similar to Ally's post.

My Electrolux RM4217 3 three way fridge is OK on 240V and 12V.

Spending three days outside the Old Killarney Inn, (with permission), last weekend we needed gas operation, but no joy; with a dim rocker switch light and a very quiet ticking noise for a spark.

Getting gas all right and can light with an external flame, so jet OK.

To be fair the attached photograph shows the fairly corroded condition of the burner. However there is continuity between the burner nozzle and earth.

Is it in need of a general connections tidy up and is any mileage to be had from a separate earth?

Thanks for all replies. (Can,t seem to upload pic from my I pad).

A separate earth is not going to solve your problem. as you have it out hold the ceramic part with insulated pliers to a different earth ( with the gas turned off ) are you getting a good bright spark?. if so when its assembled, is it in the flame path?. if not is there a good connection between the cable at the blue end of the ceramic tip?.is the small metal tip tight in the ceramic housing.

Blow the nozzle and up the heater pipe with an air line to clear any soot / dirt from the area and open the electrical connections 1 turn and lock again they may have a bit of corrosion which is loosing you full power at the spark and pull off and return any spade connection s for the same reason

If you have a good spark ⚡ and good gas flow make sure the distance between the spark and gas is correct if slightly out it won’t ignite

For fire you need 3 things.
A fuel, gas.
Oxygen.
A spark.
If your spark is landing within the gas burner area, tick it off.
If you can smell gas, tick it off.
However how do you measure the oxygen/gas mixture?. Disconnect the burner unit, turn it upside down and tap it off something and remove the debris. The oxygen is drawn through the bottom, the gas through the mid section and the spark through the top section.

Update:

Thought I had it sorted.

Seemed to be OK, sparking , lighting and the ignition light going out upon gas ignition.

Slotted all in again and ran a bit of sealant round the edges but no sparking, and I broke the red rocker switch on the front which I replaced with a little 3 terminal switch prior to getting a Halfords rectangular 3 terminal switch tomorrow. Hope they're all the same.

Took all out and checked all terminals and removed cover on the igniter.

Four terminals left to right. White to "sparky" sign and then three terminals marked +, L and an Earth symbol.

When I put an additional wire to earth the earth symbol wire I get a good regular spark at the burner whether the switch at the fridge front is on or not.

All help appreciated as I am at the limit of my abilities.

Thanks for all the advice.

Hopefully sorted.

Cleaned all earths and renewed screws and washers.

Removed, cleaned and reattached the white wire which goes from the "spark generator" to the gas.

Tick, tick, from the generator which stops when the gas ignites.

Apparently it senses a lower resistance when the flame is lit. Who'd have thought?
