Hi folk, we have justed booked our sailing to France for September- super excited - my query is what should we expect weather wise in September in the Normandy and Brittany regions?

Hi Hegarty, September is lovely but like IRELAND it’s hit and miss- we were in Northern France last September and it was cold and wet, the previous September we had lovely weather. But it does get chilly at night regardless so be prepared for that. Also a lot of the French camp sites close at the end of August so do your research on what’s open. And I’m sure you have your ACSI card sorted, if not definitely get one, in September pretty much any open site will accept it and it will save a fortune.

Kevin is bang on.
We’ve been there in September and had a lovely time. Normandy & Brittany is lovely and years of holidays to be had without going further. As a general rule it can be lovely and warm if the sun is out, especially in shelter.... but rain can and does fall at that time of year.
Lots of places to go, Aires or campsites, towns or beach, large or small.
It really is a wonderful area to motorhome in.......... keep us updated.

Just keep going south until you get the sun. Last September we ended up at the Med. it was superb!

Last September we stayed along west coast ,Vannes to st jean de monts some rain but mainly good weather but the campsites are battered , toilet blocks ,grass areas ,pitches etc so it's back to 5 weeks may/ June this year

Its hit and miss, the first year we went to france in June and then again in sept with all plans made , where to go and what to do. On arrival all went out the window, just follow your nose and follow the weather.

We had a plan about 10 yes ago , we going to do this and this , here and there , arrived in Cherbourg plan out the window , went where we found next , never made a plan again except bring the passports oh and some cash

Just a word of warning to anyone with camp sites booked in September my daughter and family had three weeks booked in various sites down the west coast and have had emails from two of them to say they are closing early this year and when they rang they were told it was because there was a big strike being planned for then Edd

Edgar, did they say who was striking. We have been caught in strikes in France over the years, lorry drivers, farmers etc. They can definitely bring the country to a standstill.

No they didn't say but if you don't want any strikes in France go in July and August they usually don't strike then as they are on holidays

I've been going for a very long time and just go don't worry never really got stuck yet ? lol hers hoping I'm going in September

I have been going over for 10 years or more and usually September, It is quieter (sometimes )then but as everyone says the weather can be hit and miss , but i think you will get more good days than bad days. The worst i have had in France was June 2007 and it never stopped raining for 2 weeks so went again in September and the weather was good
