heading out west on saturday and looking for a stopover in roscommon. anyone aware of any village or town, with a couple of pubs, and a decent place to stop for the night.

heading from dublin, to roscommon, kilkeely in mayo, achill island, portumna cobh and apple camping in tipp.

Dromod is a lovely spot . It's a Waterways Ireland marina with the usual facilities and its Just up the road from Roosky. More choice by way of food. There's a lovely Italian restaurant right at the marina and a great pub within walking distance.

There is an old park in Dugurt across the road from Silver Strand ,that has just reopened under new management ,EHU, water. Old gray and black facilities .but he has plans for improvement. Worth a look.

Strokestown house is worth a visit on your way west ,quite a good tour of the house and history
