Fridge alarm on 12v supply, help please.

My dometic fridge works on gas and ehu but when I turn it to 12v when on the move and the engine running the green light comes on to indicate it is working but there is a very audible buzzing noise/alarm.
Trouble shooting in the manuel states if it is not working on 12v change 16a fuse. But it does appear to be working just with an alarm. Has anyone encountered this before and what is the fix? I have not got any 16 a fuses on me but I'll get one today. Also I'm guessing the fuse is on my main fuse board in the Hab area rather than one in the fridge, am I guessing correctly?
I do not have a electric step so the alarm is nothing to do with the step alarm that some of you may have.
Chinese takeaway at camac very good.

Just thinking out loud here Jamie,

The alarm you hear might be a low voltage alarm,
Check the voltage coming from alternator before you turn on the fridge, then check it after you turn on the fridge, if your alternator isn't putting out the required amps/volts etc it may trigger the alarm,
Use a volt meter rather than th inbuilt volt reader,
sometimes the brush pack/regulator brushes get worn on alternators and require changing from time to time (which reminds me to check my own)
If that's all that's wrong it's a handy fix and only costs €25 to €30 from memory (that was for car)

keep us posted

Could also be the relay.
You may get your 12v and more at the fridge but a high resistance across the contacts can lead to very little amperage.
As soon aged previous, get the voltage checked and also a current draw would be useful to establish the problem.

So after exhausting all my technical skills(!!!) I tried camperserv near loule who have a great reputation only to find they couldn't see me for over 14 days. Having a fridge not working on 12v was becoming a pain so I called cantinho do caravanista (289358706) who said they'd see me in a 2 working days. They were great, found the fault, a wire between fridge and batteries that was frayed. Plus they fixed my water pump that was dying for a very reasonable fee. They are based at troto between faro and almancil on the N125. Excellent service.
