carbon monoxide scare!

Hi all,
We're fairly new to motorhome camping, so i'm hoping someone can advise / help us.
we were recently wild camping and left our fridge running on gas while we were out all day.
Upon our return, the carbon monoxide alarm was sounding, and we immediately opened all the doors and windows and kept the kids and ourselves outside until it stopped.
The fridge seems to working but clearly something is causing this and I am reluctant to use our camper with the kids until this is sorted.
My questions are: do you think our fridge just needs a service? or do you have any other advice to offer?
Thanks.

Would reckon it needs a service and best to bring it to someone that knows what they are doing and is also gas registered.

Thanks for your speedy reply.
Will definitely get it serviced.
If you or anyone has any recommendations for someone to do a service, we're down south.

Dundalk? sorry I am being facetious but we would really need more information than 'down south' :D

I'd also make sure your van is properly vented,
Get that checked also

So sorry to hear that you are obviously nervous and I would be too.
I hope you get sorted very soon and that you will feel secure and happy in your MH again very soon.

I'm based in Dundalk and recently got a pressure test done on the gas. I can pass on the tester if you need it. If it's windy it can blow out the flame leaving the gas running. You should check the pilot light every so often if using gas.

You might be better to complete your profile and add location as it helps others trying to help you out.

That's what the Thermo couple is for, to prevent gas flowing if it's not lit,
By making statements like that you will scare people,
