Our 10 Day Holidays

Hi All,
We have just spent 10 days touring from Drumsna in County Leitrim to CastleArchdale Camp Site. Brother in law/brother and family were travelling by boat up the Shannon-Erne Waterway. We only stayed in one campsite for one night (CastleArchdale). Mainly stayed in Waterways Harbours along the way with no trouble at all.
Waterways Ireland delighted for Motorhomes to use their harbours and facilities. Just buy yourself a Waterways card to access toilets, showers etc.

:-) :-)

Yes Mark you are right, you can buy them on line at www.waterwaysireland.org. Cards come in 10 units costing £4 or €6.35 or 20 units costing £8 or €12.70 with the following charges, toilet access free, showers 2 units, washing machine 4 units, tumble dryers 5 units. We have used the toilets & the showers & they are fine. You can also buy the cards in certain retail outlets.
We found out about this a magazine called Caravan Cruise Ireland (spring edition 2012), stating that Waterways Ireland welcome Motorhomes to their harbours. We also called their office in Carrick- on-Shannon & they said there was no problem for Motorhomes to stay.

thanks adria,

if you like the idea of holidaying along the Shannon contact Waterways Ireland & get a booklet called Guide to Ireland's Inland Waterways, it lists all the harbours along the way with maps, it also tells you the harbour services, very handy booklet.

We have stayed at Terryglass, Portumna, Garrykennedy on river shannon..there are shower, toilet, and waste disposal facilities at all. They are very welcoming to motor homes.
