That's a great post, and a reminder that it is worthwhile to add a bit of grease to the exposed threads,
Just in case the link ever needs adjustment or has to come off.
The 310d appears very similar and i had to get an adjustment done in Portugal last year.
In the end it had to come of,and then needed heat to get it moving!

No problem. That type of tool is great as there is no load put on the steering box and I've never had to use heat with one. Heat usually destroyed the rubber which is not a problem if replacing but a bugger if it's just for adjustment.
