RTFM

Well finally decided to RTFM, I learned very little that I didn't know already. But two things I was made aware off, they strongly recommend NOT to use LPG and the consumption of Gas appliances.

A few people have mentioned that their fridge uses an awful lot of gas, I never found this and thought it used very little... here are the figures quoted:

Hob: 1 burner ......110g per hour
Oven.................120 G per hour
96 Litre Fridge...... 20g per hour
141 Litre fridge...... 35g per hour
Trume c4002 Combination unit...170 to 490g per hpur

If you don't know what RTFM means, google it :)

Did they say why you shouldnt use LPG, because I rarely RTFM

The technical composition of LPG, namely (x%) of Propane and (y%) Butane (with x and y varying from 20 to 80%) is too variable and random, with generally the presence of evaporation gas residues (double compared to liquid gas)

The LPG distribution system (nozzle or other) is generally equipped with a heating system to avoid icing and also, in theory, with a filter to remove suspended paraffin or oil residues.
Unfortunately, this is not always the case, which proves that the filters are not being cleaned regularly or are absent, serving no purpose.

This causes phthalates to appear, which irremediably can destroy the pressure reduced membranes.

I knew what they were as I worked for a company which produced plastic/fiberglass products, they are the chemicals which make it soft and pliable and a lot of them can be classed as carcinogenic.

Ally, who doesn't recommend LPG? Are you talking about the likes of Gaslow, or similar? Curiously cautious as I have the Gaslow. Then I found this, "I’ve heard scare stories about problems with regulators, what’s the truth? The truth as far as we can tell (and we’ve put some effort into the research) is as follows. The problem with regulators concerns all gases not just Autogas. It has been looked into by the National Caravan council and the cause appears to be an oily substance leaching out of the rubber hoses and running down into the regulator. Others claim it is in the gas itself but Calor for example deny that. This problem isn’t new, I experienced it 15 years ago on a wall mounted gas fire. What is new is the post-2004 remote regulator and hose arrangement that may allow this oily goo to run back down the hose into the regulator. The solution is to loop the hose so that it falls below the regulator and/or to substitute a stainless steel hose." Surely all gas is LPG and the addition of Butane to Propane, unless desperately cold will only make the gas flow easier.

The Motorhome manufacturer for the reasons stated in post 3. They seem to mean damage to appliances not the regulator, I too use LPG refillable bottles.

The whole thing about stainless steel hoses has me baffled as the only difference is the outer sheathing which is a stainless steel braid, the inner pipe is still rubber/plastic the same as the rubber ones!

I have been using gaslow for 7 years without an issue.
Maybe cleaning or replacing the regulators is done during the habitation service.
Must ask Simon next time I am talking to him.
