Using American Dollars in Ireland

I was not sure where to put this post. My Boston relatives have told me that the dollar is good against the euro at the moment. I have just found the american dollars which I couldn't use in Cuba and have been stashed in my attic for years. Does anyone know if I can use dollars in Ireland and whether I would be better to change up into euros here in the uk or wait until I cross the pond next week.

That isn't always possible in the UK BdeC's set their own rules and may require the $-£-€ exchange.

Surely just $-€ in Ireland is quite normal given the number of Yanks I kept bumping into everywhere I went in May.

You will have no problem changing the dollars here to euros. Once there not 100 dollar bill

An Post (Irish Post Office) offer transaction free exchange but only if you bought your $ from them. The best exchange rate over here is generally at a credit union. I usually use M&S for currency exchange in the UK.
