Used my 12v Avtex TV for the first time last week, must say it's a great job with a brilliant picture, takes a USB pen or drive and that makes it like a PVR, can rewind/pause TV etc. Can also switch on MPEG/DIVX etc and have it playing those formats via a storeage device.

All in all a great job. 8-)

do you have any movies on a usb pen drive?
If so can you bring it this weekend as I have never tried the usb port on our system

Funny enough I was on the phone with LTS yesterday and mentioned to Simon about measuring our tv storage to see which fits best. I think the fitted tv is on its way out.

Avtex are by far the most popular sets on the leisure market for tellys..

we're fitting the new 18.5'' set with built in satellite reciever along with a R4sl tracvision,, should be space saving, energy saving and no remote eyes to be routed,, all in all, a nice little install,, when finished, and recordable option too

Our van came with a great surround sound system, sub woofer and all, great for the odd DVD.
We have the option to run with tv on normal sound or surround.

Satellite system now plays through the sound system thanks to LTS.

USB socket on the headset could do with a.test.

If you want to use an Avtex to receive DVB-T they are limited to MPEG2 transmissions.

In laymans terms they will not receive Saorview or any of the European terrestrial broadcasts which use the newer MPEG4 technology.

When you say "Mpeg 5" you mean MHEG5 which is the technology used to decode and display the EPG (electronic program guide) and other on screen 'info' transmissions.
The technology for decoding and displaying the program transmissions is MPEG 2&4
The UK did not opt out of MPEG4, being one of the first to adopt DVB-T MPEG2 was the only standard at the time, later adopters of DVB-T have chosen the more advanced MPEG4.
First up is not always best dressed in this world of fast developing new technologies.

It is a pity though that the providers of tv's into the leisure market do not make them compatible with all the environments in which their product may be used.

What is the situation in Northern Ireland where Soarview is widely available, will those with an interest in RTE and TV3 transmissions loose them when the analogue system is switched off in October this year.
When touring in the South those from the North might as well save weight and leave their MPEG2 only TV's at home :-|

LIDL sell a Silver Crest tv with mpeg4. I bought one and are great down south. Built-in freeview also
