What about a poll for the worst roads in NI I would say Co Down, as I travel all over the north Downs roads in my view are the worst 🇧🇭

When I was growing up through the 70s and 80s in Cavan, everyone knew when you had crossed the border into Northern Ireland by the state of the roads. They were so much better than the roads down south. Now however you can tell when you have crossed from Leitrim into Fermanagh by the state of the roads, as the surface on northern roads are very poor. It is particularly bad in the camper, between the patched potholes, bumps, and bad surface.

The European fund and Celtic tiger certainly improved the roads in the south...

Agreed. Parts of the roads between Derrylin & Enniskillen are very bumpy and poorly surfaces for driving the motorhome.

Funnily enough, I can tell when we have crossed over into Kerry because the roads change to dreadful.

That's true you know when your in the south the roads improve even between Newry and Carlingford you know when you hit the south, on the other hand they are now improving the road between Castlewellen and Newry but they have a long way to go,they made a good job of the seven sisters bends

Donaghadee to Millisle.... Bloody atrocious, they've patched and dug and filled all over and don't start me on Phoenix gas, although the waterboard aren't much better. I find myself driving as if I'd had 6 pints the way I weave around the road trying to avoid the worst bits! Ah well, they don't have much money... No, wait a minute, the highest taxed fuel in Europe and the tax disc, we should have the best roads in the EU...!! : (

When the DOE or whatever name they come under these days, lays a new surface down you can bet that within a month or so someone will be along to dig it up and patch it.

There's nothing like riding a road bike to make you realise the state the roads are in. They come along and resurface a few meters, I think it's just to give cyclists arses a brief respite. Don't even go there with fuel duty, and the tax disc. How about the huge revenue from speed cameras!

The road between Thurles and Nenagh is unreal, its on the way to an NCT center and ive heard of cars failing due to damage incurred on the way to the test, steering ball joints and lamps misaligned, after a pre test telling them the car was sound the day before, happened to a mate of mine and he is a mechanic and knew the car to be in order before the test, failed on unbalanced wheels and steering out of line, he had her checked two days before the test and it was ok, not happy at all.
