What power inverter do we need for laptop ? Is sine wave or modified sine wave relevant? We have 2 leisure batteries - is that sufficient to install an inverter?

Deny have a word with Michelinman he is an expert in this area. He fitted one for me and Liz can use her 1800 Watt hairdryner with it and I've recharged my iPad, iPhone and Mac Book Pro with it. Best bit of kit I've got fitted.

Michelinman is the owner of Rossdowney leisure services advertise on this site.

Click the advert on the top left of this page and that will take you to his website. His contact details are on there.

Hope this helps.

A 60w inverter would be enough for a laptop. 2 leisure batteries would be fine, but inverters are notoriously hard on batteries so just keep an eye on the charge when using it.

Deeny, I got mine from Michelinman and it's a 2,000 WTt and I can do everything with it including Liz using the hairdryner and it's no problem. He also fitted a solar panel for me so that charges the batteries up quickly.

I have been considering the installation of an inverter and a solar panel, but I have been hearing conflicting stories about the usefulness of the solar panel, i.e. of limited use unless there is amply sunshine, or least good bright days. Others say I should just use a small generator. What is the experience of those who have them installed? Thanks

The generator will burn fuel and create noise, which may not be appreciated by others camping around you. The solar panel once installed requires nothing else. There are pros and cons to both but personally I would do the solar panel.

I know there are pro,s and cons for both . I sell both but the Solar panel is definitely the way to go with regards to battery charging. Roger the solar panel and inverter will do the same job more efficiently and cheaper than a generator, and there are no extra costs. The solar panel usually will have your batteries topped up again in the morning ready for another day before you are out of bed  .
