Hi Guys
I have heard that fitting mounted solar panels that can be moved is the way to go as the panel can follow the output from the sun .
I dont know much about this but I have met several guys with movablr panels mounted on board and they swear by them .
Anyone got any ideas .
Richie

Very true, especially in winter when the sun is tracking lower across the sky. It'd be a major benefit to be able to "aim" the panel.

I've seen several clever ideas over the years. The most versatile example was one mounted to a roof rack on an old converted T1 Mercedes van with German plates. The guy basically had a large circular base mounted horizontally on the rack, which pivoted on a central point. I watched him climb the ladder on the back of the van, raise the panel to 30-40 degrees with a couple of adjustable arms, and spin the solar panel around to aim it in the right direction. The panel was probably 4ft X 2ft. Fairly elaborate, but pretty creative... I wish I took photos...

It looks good and impressive but very expensive.

My mate has the oyster one fitted to his van and it works well, but as Jack says it was expensive. As far as I know it is only rated at 75w but because it is tracking the sun it is more effective than a 120w lying flat on the roof

It is more of a space saver than better production of power I think.
