Getting more confused, I thought MHC was closing and moving to UMHC to which I am a paid up member but still getting ads. It’s all a muddle to me but I would pay a fiver to be ad free

How? There is no UMHC website, it closed and moved to a UMHC section in MHC were it firstly was created.

So UMHC is inside MHC, there was MPI but it's now MPL, neither are on MHC but MPL has an account on MHC, there is also MHC FB as well as MPL FB, there is even a MPL Instagram. MPI and MHC had a twitter not now none have a tweet.

Helpful?

Mors websites would work better, if they did the same thing. Especially, with the Google Crap butting in, two, three times on every page. 😡

So many pesky ads for lonely busty single women. Not sure what they have to do with Motorhomes no matter how much I investigate. I’ll let you know if so discover the link…

I was going to say I get plenty of random ads for horse racing etc and only got one lonely woman in my defence… but as I went to type this message in I got another lonely woman ad! Must be a bug somewhere on the forum Ally. I thought I would have far more than 2 of those ads by now 😆.

That's where everyone else is. 🤦🤷

Completely agree with you both. Forums are 1000 times better.

However...

We were beat long ago, I should of created a FB Group way back at the start before loads was stolen. But I put it to a vote here and the answer was no.

We are a few old guys hanging on to what we like and are used too when the huge crowds and chitter chatter are currently on FB and have been for sometime, because it's easily used, an idiot can use it, and most do. They think it's free.

Like most level headed intelligent people I too hate FB and the way in which it harvests data and fires so many ads at you that you are unable to see the actual content you want. I dont have it on my phone just on my ipad which I keep at home and only have it on that to moderate a couple of groups that I help look after.

The biggest gripe apart from the adverts is the way FB deletes posts and blocks people for expressing their views when they don't match the ideology of the FB masters, as well as removing adverts off market place for breaching their rules, but dont tell you which rule or policy you have breached and dont give a way to have a proper appeal against their decision

If this wasn't here is what I meant. No other Irish Motorhome forums. I expect we'll be here until the end of the universe, probably before 2050 then. Just throwing it out there to see opinions :)

I'm like you Dave,
If this forum wasn't here I wouldn't be looking for it.
It always amuses me when I see, FIND US ON FB, and then I think, if you have lost yourself in all that crap, don't expect me to come and find you, and even if I did, how would I know it was you, in the first place.? And do In realy need anything you have. 🤔😊

If MotorhomeCraic wasn't here I would probably frequent the UK based forums to glean info, but the local knowledge would be missing.

If MHC forum disappeared I would not go to any of the social media platforms, I completely and utterly detest those interfaces & interactions where its designed to draw in people so they actually become "the product being sold", most can't and won't see that.
I've been around IT for well over 40 years and I am set in my ways .... The folk using social media (as a generalisation) have no idea what the internet is and that's the way it will keep them.

I'd end up doing my own thing within a more enclosed and smaller pool, I'd retain the excellent friends I made here and no doubt end up meeting among ourselves.

My tuppence worth, but that's how I see it and how it would pan out for me.

I came here from Motorhome Facts and Boards. MHF is still going strong and Boards (the caravan/motorhome section) is pretty much RIP.
If MHC wasn't available 😥😢 I'd probably go back to where I came from.
For social meetings I am a member of an excellent club with 18 rallies and a dinner dance each year which is stuffed with friendly people.
I really have no need of being a member of a Facebook group at all.

Hahaha

Note: we lost two advertiser's. Donagheys who closed and LTS, despite being here from the start, didn't wish to carry on. Anchorpoint left but came back.

@JJF can tell you how the advert works for him.

So with no money coming in, it's either members pay or the adverts do. It's now costing me money every month.

If you value being on a proper safe platform, not getting your live's stole by big-tech and supporting a local platform, not some jumped up jerk in America 😁 it's now come down to "you'll have to put your money where your mouth is"

Motorhomecraic is an interesting informative forum full of interesting and informed people. Since we joined a few years ago

the forum has been a source of reliable information in relation to Aires and campsites throughout the 32 counties.

In addition the accounts of people's travels throughout Europe have made great reading. Last Autumn we spent 4 weeks

travelling in our MH around Northern France visiting many of the places mentioned by Motorhomecraic owners. I'd say

"IF it an't broke why fix it'. Keep up the good work & thanks to all the forum administrators.

Due to covid and the world climate we have lost some of our advertisers that have been there since day one in 2011. We are currently seeking advertisers, we will consider a sole advertiser. Motorhomecraic is a locally owned website and forum that is the longest running Irish/N.Irish Motorhome communities, the biggest, the most popular and the busiest on the internet.
Our forums are fully searchable by all search engine and because of that we have nearly 49 MILLION visitors and keep growing and growing.
Dont waste money advterising on Facebook to feed Zucks pockets for very very little return, advertise on the best Irish Motorhome Platform, fully google search engine friendly, safe, secure, no data theft and the only irish resource that all 201,000 posts are accesible openly on the internet to benefit all Motorhome users, not just those stuck in certain facebook groups.
Interested? contact us please 🙂
We don't wish to succumb like everyone else to Meta, and be absorbed by algorithims and data theft. if its free "you are the product.
