There is a few German companies who are doing really interesting and futuristic work with prototypes running and working. They’re using alu-air batteries….. see

One company near Mengen in southern Germany have prototypes running in a fleet of electric forklifts that are out performing anything commercially available. One such forklift is on field trials with a company we visit regularly the past 2 years with little issues.
The future is not lithium for EV. I believe that the EV future will be a universal standard battery that is interchangeable at ‘service stations’ in a matter of seconds/mins and we will pay per mile for its use.
