Never understood the term "Tag axle" I'm sure there's an easy explanation.

However the question is, are Tag Axles any way frowned upon on the continent? Aires? Campsites? etc

Think the term tag axle refers to a third set of wheels that can be deployed, eg let down onto the ground when they need more payload. I read a thing where a 3 axle vehicle us just called double axle or tri axle. Some lorry drivers on here can expand this. I have never been refused on a continental campsite. I've been on a couple of tight ones but have fitted in. When I book in I tell them its 8m so I can get an appropriate site

Only problem with three axle vehicles on the Continent is in France its charged Class 4 the same as a lorry on toll roads, whereas motorhomes are normally charged Class 2. I was once charged €90 for a trip Lyon-Paris when the operator wouldnt reduce it

Tag axle is one fitted behind the driving wheels to extend the load weight ratio.
Tandom is two axles in line, not necessarily driven.
One in front of the driven axle is a pusher.

I've seen some sites in France that wouldn't take them and others charging €10 extra but not many

For me It's a commercial lorry term as for an artic which has a drive axle & the one behind is a tag axle
