Not quite, but not far away. Up to a 10% increase but less than 50% of the price.

Was getting 16.7 mpg for combined driving, mostly town, some Motorway, a bit of towing.

Now getting the equivalent of 35mpg for same driving. So maybe 45-50 on Motorway.

Which is better fuel economy than the diesel counterparts.

A lot. It was considered a lot more environmentally friendly.

Well to Wheel – the figure calculated for LPG is considerably lower than other fuels:

Diesel is 29.2% higher than LPG
Petrol is 26.8% higher than LPG.

This has Probably been asked someone on the forum but just to refresh, so just to be clear lpg is what you fill up with the Gaslow system for cookers an heating, I drove past a garage yesterday that says auto gas on the pump housing and lpg on the digital reader glass, I’m taking it this is the correct type, just says lpg , that’s it , but the garage staff was filling a cylinder up for the customer, suppose what I’m asking is, you can’t go into a forecourt and see different types of refillable gas types,

Lpg/autogas is what you need for gaslow and other refillable systems.

First off. It's totally illegal, as in against the actual law, to refill a gas cylinder without a built in automatic cut off valve. So if anything went wrong with what you witnessed the garage's insurance would invalidated.
Regarding your query.
Propane, butane, cargas, autogas, etc are all LPG (liquid petroleum gas)
LPG for vehicles is generally a mixture of propane and butane, the mixture varies in different countries. In southern European countries the percentage propane can be significant but in colder northern Europe countries it can be 100% Propane.
Here's a very good link which explains all
