This is from the blog
"Campers or camper vans are officially known as motor caravans. A motor caravan is a defined term in EU law and Revenue uses that definition as a tax category.

To be deemed a motor caravan, a vehicle must be a special purpose EU category M1, M2, or M vehicle 3, and must be constructed to include living accommodation which contains at least the following equipment:"

I've never seen a motor caravan other than category M1.
M2 & M3 are vehicles with more than eight passenger seats and the driver requires a D (bus) Licence to drive such a vehicle.

The blog also contains an official confirmation that VRT is a tax based on a value which already includes the tax, a tax on a tax. Well, we already know that sharp practice is in place, don't we!!!

M1, M2& M3 before construction / conversion is what I took from it.

It says "must be" not 'must have been', Ally. In fact a motor caravan could have been a catagory N1, N2 before conversion too, as we know.
AFAIK it was the RSA who started the thing about motor caravans being available in the bus category.
