During the past week while driving from Spain to Cherburg the best I've seen is €1.92 (Super U).
However reducing my max speed from 90/95 kmh to 80kmh has saved me 2 l/100 km, thats down to about 9.8 l/100km from my usual 12 ish.
In 1500km that's a saving of 30 litres

Don't think you'll be popular driving at that speed on some roads, but that is the joy of not being in a hurry

Being 3,850kg 80kmh is the speed limit on single carriageway roads and on dual carriageways / motorways there is always another lane for others to overtake on.
I've also noticed quite a few HGVs seem to be keeping to about 80kmh on roads on which they can legally do 90kmh, probably to save on fuel costs too.
In a recent interview Richard Branson said if everyone reduced their speed by 10kmh the world could do without Russian oil and the price of oil would revert to 2018 levels.

Is that price before or after the 15cents discount that the French government is giving?

Mines 4000,I keep forgetting about that 80 kph on single carriageway ,as a matter of interest did you put on the ' angle mort ' stickers and do you have 80 / 90 kph stickers on the back

No and no.
Never had the speed stickers, only seriously big mh's like tag axle and yokes on the likes of Iveco's and heavy Sprinters seem to use them.
I didn't bother with the Angle Mort stickers on the basis that my mh is (was) available at 3,500kg so it doesn't look like it should have then.

Apologies for stayed off topic.
As a counterbalance to Thornwood, I'm currently at Cherburg. Between the official Aire and the unofficial overflow areas adjacent to it there are about 35 mh's. Among which are 10 A Class.
Only 1 coachbuilt has angle mort stickers and 3 of the A Class, 2 of which are very large mh's on truck chassis.
With the exception of a handful of foreigners the are all French reg mh's

The Spanish Government played a really cute card.

First, they priced controlled all fuel, any increases have to be government approved.
Next, they gave a 20-cent per litre subsidy, 5 cents funded by the oil companies and 15 cents from their own coffers.

So, when you see the advertised price and the price at the pump saying €1.78/l that is what is used to calculate the total displayed on the pump after the purchase.
However, when you go to pay the receipt shows the 20-cent per litre subsidy as a deduction from the total so effectively you pay €1.58/l

A very intelligent ploy to prevent the retailer and/or oil company from robbing the subside from the customer.

Just before crossing into France this afternoon I topped up at a Repsol station, usually one of the dearest brands. Pump price was €1.82.9/L total came to €45.40 less Government discount paid €39.19. Wish had a bigger tank. :-)

I worked in the tobacco industry and retailer's were always complaining about their low percentage margin.
However, they always avoided any recognition of the fact the it was 'only' 5% on a very expensive product with high volumes and fast turnover and zero spoilage/wasteage. They often compared the low percentage on tobacco products unfavourably with the 30% on sweets and confectionery.

€1.76 in Casino supermarket in Longeville sur Mer this afternoon.

It's down 10 to 15 cents compared to highs of April in France and Spain.
So why isn't it coming down here too.
Another example of price gouging here on the 'ould sod'

Bear in mind that the current reduction in Spain is only temporary and if I recall correctly it comes to an end at the end of June.

It's the pre government subsidy price that is reducing.
For example, the current list price of Shell is around €1.87, it was about €2 back in mid-April, deduct the subsidy and it's now costing around €1.67
There are 'local' brands currently available from €1.77 less the €0.20 subsidy

Less than 2 weeks ago diesel was €1.76 in Longeville Sur Mer, today 5km along the coast it is €2.08 . WTF is going on ? Has Saudi Arabia put the price up to buy some good players for Newcastle United , or are they saving up to get Rory to move to their new golfing tour ? 🤬

The current price doesn't seem to affect some. I've reduced my cruising speed to 80kmh or there abouts but am often passed by other mh's travelling at 90kmh or more.
I saved 30 litres on your return journey from Spain (1500km) by setting the cruise control at 80kmh instead of the usual 95/100 kmh
Motorhomes are a very blunt instrument with the aerodynamics of a garden shed.

The trucks take ages to pass because they are travelling at a reduced speed too, if they were doing their legal 90kmh they would cruise past.
Just relax and enjoy the journey, arrival time shouldn't be a critical objective
