For a decent set up with approx 6.8 kw of battery back up the cost will be close to 10k. Given the average electric bill is 12-1400 , and if you save 50%, that’s a payback period of approximately 15 years, during which time your battery bank, will be gone, probably your inverter, and even possibly your panels. So you can repeat the entire process, and prepay for your electric needs indefinitely ESB costs need to rise significantly and solar systems decrease, before it makes financial sense
