twice I drove away at home without disconnecting the power hook-up. Both times I ripped the charging socket out of the van. Luckily there was an excellent electrician close by.

I always put a high visibility strap on the steering wheel when I connect to EHU.

Mine has one of those devices on board that rings a loud noise if you start the engine and electric cable is still plugged in and switched on.
Not sure if that would be an easy retro fit.

Cant say I ever drove off with the power cable connected but I have driven away with the sky light open, my biggest fear is driving away with the Dish up.

There is a wire on my dish, when Connected to the ignition, it will close the dish down, if the ignition is switched on.

We used to have a card cut-out that slotted on dashboard behind steering wheel which had Fridge, skylights, gas…must use it again, rather than a verbal list. Nowadays fridge switches over automatically, but door not always clicked into lock position and swings open on first corner.

Over the years we have quite a few drive off whilst still hooked up. It’s surprising how strong the cables are. This weekend someone was leaving the site with the ehu still plugged in the van but disconnected from the socket. Luckily another camper saw it and he unplugged it. I can imagine the damage he could have done if he was on the main roads with the cable swinging wildly behind him.
My hab door is on the opposite side to the van hook up and I have been in the driver’s seat more than once before remembering to unplug.
As for the number of people who I have stopped as they are leaving with roof lights and windows open it’s almost a daily occurrence.
You can’t beat a check list.

Could title of this post be changed?
All very interesting points with the emphasis more on importance of checking before driving off and post maybe get skipped over as title is about Waving to other Motorhomes…and it is relevant in cartoon on #1 post but there has been same title for friendly wave to oncoming MHs.

Maybe the title is still relevant.... cornering too fast with a full casettte could possibly result in a tidal wave! 😬

You have a posh one Martin, there is no wire on mine as it is manually operated, on the flip side I can usually lock onto a satellite when some are still pulling their wire .😀

Saw that happen a guy in the flesk Camp site a couple years ago, he pulled down a wooden fence post and made a s hook of the step. Lucky he didn’t knock someone off a bike down the street

I drove off and left my wife on the camp-site a few years ago. I still miss her.🤔

Go back , someone might have left her in reception 😁😁
