Ok so maybe a bit OT but latest "improvement" to my 2015 Renault Master.

I have just ordered two hydraulic struts for SGS in Derby to fit on the bonnet of my big camper as I find it almost impossible now to lift made heavier by the fitment of one of these

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BON…SwuM9bpW85

Has anybody already carried out this modification and can tell me where I am likely to go wrong

David.

P.S. it took me agers to find something else to do and came up with this.

Thought that you were having a wee pop at me

i hope the guy dosnt take it bad, but the final straw was some lad bought this black thing for the front of his bonnet ,just hanging there, what does it do

It does a very good job of deflecting stones that get thrown up and since fitting have had no more paint chips on the bonnet.

A dam sight cheaper than a bonnet respray (Had one of those) and funny enough by far the majority of people who have seen the van love the look. problem for most it does not really suit the Ducato type van

Oh thanks for calling me "some lad" by the way I am old enough to be yer dad.

Yep took it BAD :'( >_< o.O

I think it looks quite snazzy David and is also quite functional in stopping stone chips 👍

So as Murphy's law goes just about every thing went wrong (and not yet resolved).
First SGS failed to send out the struts and it has taken me three weeks and loads of E-mails to get my money back
So ordered from Ebay 55cm 400N and they arrived OK but of course could not get them to fit as the van has never been designed to have them.
Anyway finally after making cutting shaping metal and plastic fitted them OK but the dam things are too strong and one would have done the job. Forcing the bonnet down I broke one of the screw threads so spend another couple of hours carefully drilling out the end of the bar to cut a thread and insert a new piece of threaded bar to make good.

New 200N struts now awaited to fit hopefully will be same ball size

Good day what

I have used SGS twice to regass struts and have had no problems with them

Oh me too about 6 or 7 times including a compressor and never a problem until this time.
Maybe they are like many struggling with Covid.
