My charge controller has a second battery charge output but I can't connect it to the starter battery. If I did it would raise the starter battery voltage, thereby closing the split charge relay, and hence connect the starter and leisure batteries, and the two charger outputs. 😫

Instead I use the second charge output to keep a tiny (6Ah) battery charged to run two fridge vent extraction fans. There are lots of combinations eh 🤔

Pressed the button on this controller, got it for an offer of $90, it seems to have good reviews, think it is the same as the one Colin has on the photo of a previous post.

Now thinking of picking up one of these the next day I'm in Limerick, reviews appear to be good for them too, anyone know of any reason why I shouldn't? I tried contacting that company that Martin recommended and there is no reply to their phone or email, I left a message and they didn't come back to me.

Should be fine as long as it can handle the 30 odd volts inputting from the panel

Pat, I will try calling them tomorrow and let you know. I had a couple of different contacts from them.

Pat, if it's the same as my charge controller, which it looks to be, it can handle up to a maximum voltage input of 50Vdc
