A new to me M/H. Our first jaunt into owning a full on motorhome. Have had some older VW's and self converted a T4 and a Transit over the years. The inevitable "offspring" are changing the playing field!

Really happy with what we have and hoping to get plenty advice and discussions on here.

It's on a 2002 Ducato with the 2.8JTD engine. Getting to grips with the awful 5th gear ratios but overall happy with the mechanics.

Thanks folks. I’ll live with the 5th for now. Currently looking at the ride height. It’s lower at the front. I think there are taller springs you can get which will level out the ride height. Will put them in when I do the shock mounts in a few weeks. Anyone done this?

It’s very well minded inside :). Just battling with the fridge cutting out after an hour on gas now. Will finish going through my list after researching it before posting here:/

Happy days

Ive never done the springs but I nearly did. I got the price of Donaghey motorhomes and they could supply and fit cheaper than I could get the springs :o

So I swapped out the front springs last night. While I was at it I replaced both shocks, dust covers/bumps and top mounts. One worn mount was the reason for the work in the first place. The heavy duty springs+mounts were €200 approx from Coastal M/H pre brexit. The shocks and bump assemblies were €100 on a deal from Mister Auto (longevity remains to be seen). Gave the local guy €20 to take the springs on/off, they're brutes. Overall time on my tod was about 3.5hrs. Worst part is getting the assembly back up and in and bolted top and bottom. Maybe best to tackle with an assistant if possible!!

All in all worth it in the end as there's a static height increase of 70mm which is visibly a big difference. It will sit level with the air bags deflated on site and still be a vast improvement while driving with the bags inflated. I image it will settle when I get a chance to go for a spin so will update then on final height increase
