Hi,
DFDS are currently taking booking for the new ferry, but "Freight Only". I inquired regarding booking an MH, I received a nice reply, effectively due to Covid they can only have one driver per cabin. He siad keep an eye out on the web site as things could change.
How many of the 7000 odd registered members of Motorhome Craic would travel to Europe and or via Dover each year, I for one do every year for past 20 years, (except 2020 which doesn't count!!)?

hopefully DFDS would consider a craic discount at some point in the future

MV Visby in Rosslare right now... 1500PAX, 120Freight, 520 cars

That's 2x the PAX and Car capacity of either the Stena Horizon or BF Connemara (and I presume IF Epsilon)

Could be the game changer vessel, neither of the other 2 DFDS vessels have the PAX capacity to service the passenger market.

They're putting 3 vessels on the route right now, the MV Kerry and MV Seaways don't really have capacity for passengers if they have a full vehicle deck but like I mentioned above the MV Visby is a full fat passenger ferry and looks to be the one that can shake things up a little. Fuel prices are a fraction of what they were a few years ago, there's room for a new entrant to come in low to grow market share.

Another unaccompanied freight route being opened up, this time Cork - Zeebrugge by CLdn, who already operate a similar Dublin - Zeebrugge service. Highlights the fact that shipping companies are keen to invest.

More likely keen to avoid the landbridge route

I wonder what will happen to the Stena landbridge fares now that DFDS are sailing directly to Dunkirk as they are Stena's partner in that.

Yes BBC reporting a lot of of EU continental freight is coming to Ireland via France now rather than using the land bridge to avoid being held up due to EU Exit paperwork. Could definitely increase options for motorhomes to France.
