That's that sorted !

'Thank you for your recent application for a Green Card
Since you made your request, we’ve received confirmation from the ABI (Association of British Insurers) that, due to a Withdrawal Agreement being reached, there’s no requirement for Green Cards to be shown as proof of insurance when driving outside of the UK. Therefore, we won’t be issuing any Green Cards.
Please rest assured that you don’t need one for your upcoming travel. '

I'm pretty surprised at that. i rode across europe a few times by motorbike (ROI / Swiss Reg) and the boys on the border crossings into places like Romania / Serbia demand the green card, and would definitely 'fine' you if you don't have one (no matter which country you originate from). It might be 'OK' from the UK insurance federation, but i wonder how it might be practically on the ground

Just got a Green Card from Dolmen for the current insurance year.

Hardly worth their bother as the policy is due for renewal on 2nd January at 2400 hrs. However the Green Card runs out a day earlier at 2400 hrs on 1st January. I suppose there is a possibility I could have been going into ROI on New Years Day

I got one as well, although I had already got one from Dolmen last March on renewal. This one is curious in that it does not say ‘print on green paper’ which I have seen on lots of other insurance threads. It also seems to emanate from Axa in Belfast but forwarded by Dolmen.
