Hi all, just wondering if anyone has imported a motorhome from france, I've seen a few vans that look good and seem reasonably priced, is it a similar process to Germany, or are there difficulties, any knowledge or experiences appreciated.

A friend of ours just did it about 6 weeks ago, as of yesterday he was waiting for the VRT charge and then get a new reg plate.
It is possible to buy a new one if you pay for it to be transported to the ferry on a truck . you can buy and collect a second-hand one with a reg plate once you can get insurance cover from here to drive it home . you then have 7 days to make an appointment to have it inspected and start the process to have it estimated for VRT.

Thanks for the info. now all I have to do is wait for travel to be available and sell my van, then it's off to France or Germany to do some shopping. It would be much easier to buy here but the selection in my budget is quite poor, anyway, thanks for help and I'll let you all know how I get on.

Hymer E610 1995, lovely van layout not really suitable for us.
