Sticky Gearbox in Peugeot Camper

 ·

Im looking for views or suggestions on a sticky gearbox in a Majestic  2017 registered Camper with a Peugeot 2 Ltr engine. Sticky or notchy in all the gears, more so, in the lower gears and when changing both up and down.
I had it checked  by a Peugeot dealer. Basically they said it was the nature of the beast and they couldn't do anything about it and suggested it might improve with use -  33000 km on the clock.
I have a dodgy arms from wear and tear over the years. I've been driving Fiat Duccato campers since 2010 and, while I always thought the Gearboxes  (which I think is the same as Peugeot) tend to be sticky. This one seems to be worse.
Perhaps my arm is worse!  Its as if you have to shift a ball out of the way to change gears.

Having an automatic fitted seems to be out of the question as well
Its a pity as this camper otherwise is perfect for me.
Any views or suggestions would be much appreciated.

A bit of a long shot but get in touch via phone to Mike Chubb the owner of this website, apparently what he doesn’t know about gearboxes isn’t worth knowing.
I’ve never needed his services but I’ve read that he is very approachable and will give advice over the phone.
Tell him you were speaking to a member on the Talbot Owners Club as an ice breaker

Usually the cause in other vehicles is the wrong oil in the gearbox. However I assume yours has the dash mounted gear shift, same as my ducato. I think it is the nature of the beast. Terrible gear shift, compared to most cars.

Maybe the cables are stiff and need to be oiled,
Had similar problem with a Volvo fh that had cables from the gear stick to the top of the box,
After they were taken out oiled and hung for a few hours in order for the oil to flow into the cable,

Gear shift mechanism needs lubrication, I've had it done in a few different vans and has always worked

My Peugeot isn’t notch through the gears quite the opposite in fact I would see about having the mechanism lubricated, oh and try a different Peugeot dealer, that can make all the difference as well

The thumb showing down means you have liked it but are able to unlike it again

I have a 2012 citroen relay and every year or 2 I have to lubricate linkage on top of gearbox, seems to get dry with heat from engine/exhaust.

Larry , as far as I know, that's the way the thumb's up button works, once you click it it changes to thumbs down, this allows you to then retract your like if you so wish.
