I wouldn’t put too much store by this article. The entry for Down has been closed since about 2015/16 despite the alleged article being dated 24th sept 2020! The site has been occupied by chips ahoy since about 2016.

As an affishionardo of fish and chips a lot comes down to the way you like it cooked, the batter, the oil type and on which day you get them as each fryer has their own way of doing things, but its still good to have a recommendation.

Chipmongers Portstewart gets my vote too.
They had to stop their special offer, they thought it would cost them ~£5k, when I asked why it wasn't working any more they said it had cost them over £8k so looks to be very popular, can see why.

There is the debate of skin on or skin off. I prefer it off. Got it from Saltees at Kilmore Quay and it was skin on

‘The Galley’ in Carnlough, Co Antrim, does the best fish supper. Fish comes straight off the boats and you can tell it’s never been frozen. One of the best by far that we have found.

I am lucky, the old fashioned chippy in my village run by Costa for over 40 years is absolute great, his fish is delivered fresh every day.
Being Cypriot of course he sells Kebabs Chicken or Lamb even some veggie options.
And now they deliver!!!

Got to agree @hillton9 and @Galldar that Chipmonger in Portstewart is righ up there.
Also as relay racer says, Mellys in Killybegs is great too.

For Fish and chips, if you're ever on the road then try a great little cafe in the village of Dunkineeley near Killybegs called 'Baskins' .... it's superb.
