We're enjoying a few nights at Dick's Field...secure parking, waste and water, great views and easy access to the village and fantastic walks. We consider it great value and visit regularly.
On a walk into the village this evening, there was a line of four campers, nose to tail, taking up at least twice as many parking spaces on the sea-front. The first two were actually well beyond the 'no motorhomes past this point' sign.
Two of them were very much high-end models (no offence to the other two!) who surely could have eached scraped 12 euro together for a night at Dick's.
So, as my heading mentions, I'm just curious as to why some campers would rather possibly annoy locals and irritate other visitors, instead of supporting a local aire? Just curious...

May be the ‘I’ve bought a motorhome and I’ll park it wherever I like’ syndrome.
Arrogance and inconsiderate attitudes of some of our tribe eventually leads to the erecting of height barriers and a community becoming Anti-motorhome ..... and truth to be told is, who could blame them?
Problem is these owner a***0**s usually sell up their vans and piss off back to their 2 week package deals and leave the damage they have inflicted on the responsible motorhome owners.

On our pre-departure walk through the village today, we were chatting to Dick's wife sitting on the bench near the campers in question. She summed the situation up with a shrug of her shoulders, and that's probably the only response any of us can give.
She recalled that when they re-opened in June they soon filled up, so they advised campers they turned away to travel elsewhere. But no, most went and parked in the village anyway and caused mayhem. There will always be a selfish, troublesome minority in any aspect of life...the current Covid situation is a perfect example.
All we can do is take every opportunity to do the right thing and act the right way whenever, and wherever we can.
There. Just saying.

That's all we can do. We are not responsible for every white box and the same as an Audi driver isn't responsible for a BMW driver.

Do the right thing, advise when we can, but ....
