I reckon they are the sleeping accommodations.

I remember back in the 60s on a wee site near Killiney (long gone) we were astonished when one of these pulled onto the site. The amazing thing for us kids (I was about 10) was the trailer which was huge and fitted out with individual cubicles for sleeping. Hopefully the link shows what I mean. Suddenly the site went from quiet with some caravans to being a small german town. The coach was the seated travel accomododation with the catering unit incorporated into the lower parts of the coach sides. My memory was that the coach was a bit more like a regular coach which took them off on day trips.

In photo 1 the tarpaulin has been unhooked on 3 sides and remains attached as the awning on the opposite side.
There are lockers along the side, one is open on side 3.
The receptionist said they have been coming here for the last 15 years to their site, she wait wait till you see them assembling it.
I thought the were a school group but mostly adults,
It is wet and windy and I was thinking about them last night all tucked up in their little tents on the roof.

You're in your little pod over the driver's door. It's lashing rain and blowing a gale. You've a full bladder with pressure rising. Are you going to, (A) stand up and relieve yourself over the cab roof, or (B) go to the back, down the ladder and make a mad dash for the toilet block. :-/

It looks like a Mercedes 1617 model, very reliable. I drove one that was bought for 3K which included a Hiab crane, a winch and beaver tail to the south of France and back and it never missed a beat

I saw one very like that in Strasbourg city centre campsite a couple of years ago.
Tight parking in that site but they managed it well.

Hmmm...a small group of Germans quietly set-up an innocent-looking field-hq....should we be worried?
