When I bought our VW i joined Type 2 Ireland and got very involved. Still moderate etc from time to time.

It was exactly what we wanted..easy going, light hearted, plenty of opportunities to get away for informal and relaxed weekends in the company of like minded people. We made a lot of really great friends.

We did a TV documentary on the lifestyle some years ago and they had a family from Gort on as well. All i can say is their idea of a good weeknd away and ours couldn't have been more different. They loved the organised rallies with meetings, planned activities, AGM's etc.

When I searched online a month ago and found this place I thoght this is exactly what we're looking for. It really reminds me of T2I way back at the start.

Like anything it's all down to what people make of it. Numbers aren't important for now but keep doing what you're doing cause there must be a lot of other people out there looking for the same thing.

Keep it relaxed and informal and you have the edge on all the other admin heavy clubs run by 'aul fellas in green blazers :D

Oh gosh its great fun, as Swanner says its not all about numbers just yet but they will keep building for sure! I feel I could ask any question and my question won't be laughed at or I won't feel like a thicko for asking.

There are a lot of couples now buying motorhomes and campers and literally have barely sat foot inside one before (myself included) so a place like this is invaluable.

Buying a motorhome is always something we talked about but it was only when I suffered ill health this year that we decided to go for it, life is too short, and it is supposed to be something we enjoy and this should incorporate the forum aspect too.

Its got a great vibe. I think if I had looked in on it and it had been heavy going like some sites can be than I honestly don't think I would have joined.

The name says it all really, its about having fun! Plus motorhomecraic.com knows how to throw a mean party :)

P.S. I can't remember how I found it!!!

I found this site because Ally (who I still hanen't met yet) sent me a message on another forum to offer his wild camping area. We kept in touch until he told me about this site.

I am very glad someone has produced a site like this as many of the others are either based in the UK or are just not motorhome / camper only.

As has alrady been mentioned, I feel it is important to keep the open and friendly feel going.

I have told Ally that I am more than happy to assist in any way I can to ensure the site continues to grow in the manner it has already.

It will be good once a few of us get to know each other and start meeting up in the various areas.

I have been working on some promotional material for ally to make available on the site so we all have the choice to carry basic info which can be handed out to other motorhomers we meet on our travels.

Thanks folks! all great to hear!

Look forward to meeting you all at some stage.

As Mark says, he has kindly been making a flyer for the site and we are going to make it available for download, if any of you would be kind enough to download it, print it out and hand it to any Motorhomer you see, or leave them in various places (with permission of course:), we would be most grateful.

We have also got some made for handing out and we have some business cards on order (should of been here!), also Mark is designing a sticker which I can post to anyone that wants one, I will have to charge for these though, but it will be at cost. No more than £1/1 Euro each I would suspect.

Bronagh: hope you are on the mend

Same as Mark, got a message from ally on another forum that I don't visit any more, no fun, and was delighted to join. Keep it friendly and informative and we are on a winner.

Member over on Wildcamping.co.uk and saw the post, so investigated further. Don't understand why anyone would get banned - each forum has it's own advantages. I'm here because this site is friendly and relates to the island of Ireland as a whole, whereas WC is primarily GB and Europe.

Found the site through my interest in Genealogy.
Hope to visit Ireland (North and South) to seek out family information and want to be able to move around without paying expensive hotel prices.

I came across it by accident and very glad I did. I agree with Bronnagh regarding the information bit. We are all in the same game here and I find it disturbing that on other sites people get enjoyment out of putting others down whenever they get the opportunity. We all had to learn and continue to learn every single day....

The other aspect is of course the light hearted approach to the forum. I hate the back biting, snide comments that are forever present on other sites. Long may this site continue in it's current format....!!
