Parking

Hi All
Just received a photo from a senior official in the dock land car parking ,on the harbour in Galway . They are trying to ease restrictions for Motorhomes to return parking back on the harbour in Galway . The photo he sent was 4 Motorhomes taking up 15 car parking spaces , parked across 3 bays rather than parking in one . I seen the same myself on the quay in Westport , most were parked properly yet a small minority were parked across bays . Unfortunately this will give the majority of Motorhome owners who obey the proper etiquette a bad name ,and will entice local councils to enforce no parking for Motorhomes
Please park properly and bring your rubbish home ☹☹☹

If they park like that its only a matter of time before they get a ticket because they will get a ticket for parking properly at the best of times from what I hear,

By the way you are preaching to the converted here on MHC

Don't send photos around take action against them and publicize all the facts. people who do the likes of that should be stomped on, hard.

Hi All . I have stayed in that car park . The problem with that car park i the layout isn't suitable motor homes only cars . My motorhome is 7 m long so my van would be across the road if I parked correctly blocking traffic . If the Dock company cleaned the back of the car parked of rubbish . marking the lanes correctly all would be suitable for every one . When I did park I stayed as close to the back of the park as possible without damaging my tyres
Did the 4 motor homes . stop any cars parking . Rather than arguing between each other ask Galway docks lay out the CAR PARK for motorhome

I have seen vans parked there. I would have thought if you had approximately 1.2 to 1.4 of an overhang you wouldn’t block traffic. I’m not sure we should be dictating how they layout THEIR car park, but we still should not park across 3-5 spaces. If you don’t fit, move on. At least if they put the facility back, as it is, shorter vans can make use of it. That’s way better than nothing, which is what we have now.

other than that car park where else can a motorhome park in Galway . Most motor homes are from 6 m upwards . I prefer all motor homers be treated the same big or small .

Don’t we all. But a space for some of us is better than no space for anyone. Galway is very poor regarding MH. I wouldn’t be going there, personally speaking

Personally speaking it will be a long time before I am in Galway with the motorhome, as someone who had many trips there I now do not feel welcome.
Yes any attempt to get motorhomes parking again is welcome but I will not be grovelling for it.
If we are not welcome then it is their loss and we can spend our cash elsewhere.

I, for one, don't need someone else's facilities and I don't need a camping pitch.
I JUST WANT SOMEWHERE TO PARK MY FULLY SELF SUFFICIENT AND SECURE MOTORHOME OVERNIGHT.

That’s all very well when one is actually camping, Actual camper. But we are talking about parking.

Moderators, any chance of cross referencing this users IP with local Galway caravan parks please?
