I got a bit obsessed about this accident (after having a few beers on Saturday night), so I read up on the news reports.

The hill leading down to Tadoussac ferry port is 2km long, with a 10% gradient. Most of the reports suggest the driver of the RV most likely cooked his brakes on the way down the hill, leading to total brake failure. Despite there being two gravel traps for runaway trucks along the way, with a lot of signage, he didn't steer his RV into them.

Terrifying.

Has there been any investigations,
were his brakes shot , did he make ant attempt to stop (apparently not. Gravel pit stops ).was he so pissed off with the person in the passenger seat that he just had enough.
Road rage taken to extreme with one of the last row of cars that beat him to the ferry.

I would like to know! Most of what I read was media speculation over the following day or two.

I couldn't find a police report or follow-up.

Eyewitnesses said he was honking the horn and weaving left to right trying to clear the way in front of him. Apparently he tried to scrub speed by swiping along a wire barrier. If you look at the area on google maps street view, it's a densely populated area near the port with lots of wooden buildings. The only places to stop a runaway vehicle would be in the gravel traps.

Maybe he didn't see all of the signs pointing to the traps, or yeah, maybe it was intentional, who knows
