I have 2 6kg propane gas bottles in my Compass motorhome uk built so came supplied with uk bottles. I can get 6kg propane bottles here in Ireland no problem but the fitting is different...uk type is a female whilst Irish one a Male. Question is...where can I get an adaptor and what sizes are they so know what to order? Tia

It is weird the amount of different gas connections, it’s hard to keep up. So as above a butane pigtail from uk fits a propane in Ireland. Where is the logic😃

john give the lads in the Harbour Gas in Bray a call they may have an adaptor or just get an Irish pigtail and change it for the UK one as everyone else said.

Yes, pigtail will have a L/H nut to screw on to Irish propane bottle.

Just a note all Gas LeftHand threaded nuts have a grove cut into the points of the hext.

I use the same gas bottles Jonn. I did switch over from Butane at one stage to what you are using now. I needed to change connector to do that but it wasn't a case of changing a pigtail, it was a regulator change. So now I have a threaded regulator that couples directly to the gas bottle. I think there might have been a 29mBar to 37mbar changeover involved. I don't know, bloody confusing.

Anyway, that does not affect you by the looks of it. It looks like you just need a pigtail so excuse by anecdotal ramblings. 😋

That sounds like it is the same fitting you put on Propane bottles to connect to an Acetylene regulator, try any welding supplies shop and see is it correct

21.8LH Gas Outlet (Butane) to UK POL ( Propane) Brass Adaptor

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/21-…SwdzhcEoKt

As others have said change the pigtail or use this adapter, then you can fill both types of bottle.

Yeah, that's the one
I had to buy a new one last year as my old one went away on the empty bottle by mistake. I bought it from a local welding supply store, they told me it must be 20 years ago when they sold the last one. every one had to buy them that time when they changed the bottle tops to the male thread.

That exactly what I was thinking , we used Propane for cutting and the power lance.

I'm interested to know if you can get an adaptor the other way around, with a cone and nut on one side and the male thread ROI on the other.

Simply to screw it into the UK and connect the ROI loose nut pigtail onto the other end.
