Take out the one that is in it and get the numbers or count the teeth and measure it,

Bought the van about 3 to 4 months ago....recently 5th gear getting crunchy when shifting eventually went completely
Mechanic removed the 5th gear but unfortunately was the day before lockdown so van has been sitting up at home. I'm ordering the part myself but am unsure as which one to buy on ebay..I've read there are possibly 2 5th gear options with 1 being the same and the other with more or less teeth ? that maybe runs better

Hi George.....I had that issue on my last van, A 1999 2.8idtd Fiat engine. I opted to replace with the closer ratio 5th gear or smaller gear. It made a huge difference in drivability....The old gearing felt like going from 4th to a 6th gear....the new replacement set was spot on for my requirements....especially on hills the new 5th gear was brilliant...click on link below

Yeah...the 34/53 set was way better for me. The higher gear set is great for white van delivery man but pretty crap for motorhome with the extra weight and terrible aerodynamics. Anyway...whichever you choose, hope all goes well 👍

Were the teeth broken on original gears? I know you dumped them but if gears were good then it was more than likely the synchro that was gone, A lot of people simply whipped off synchro and reversed it as both sides are the same!.....Another thought is that a lot of people never replace 5th gear.....They just use the first 4 gears and rarely go over 90 km per hour!
