Increasingly I hear of the sale's of Motorhome's will surge do to this pandemic, With many people changing how they holiday and will buy Motorhome's/Caravan's instead of the usual Costa 2 weeker. Also due to this, Used MH's will increase in price and will be a bumper few years ahead for the MH industry/private sellers...I don't know how it will pan out....What are your views?

Ive been watching Motorhome prices since the start of this, I have a reason to do so. It is quite unbelievable what is happening to second hand vans. The prices are shooting up considerably but I'm yet to ascertain if...

1. they are selling at the inflated prices
2. they are sellers with pipe dreams
3. people have gone crazy

I am currently watching a 1992 Pilote Motorhome at £15000, in 2015 I purchased a 2001 Pilote Motorhome for £12000 from a dealer.

I was at my local mh dealer this morning and a retired gent came in enquiring about available 'vans. He said he and the misses were seriously considering buying for future holidaying instead of using package flying/hotel holidays.

I always have a nosey about from time to time and on new vans at dealers the prices are dropping especially on 2019 models which they hadn't shifted pre shutdown

Evening all,
I also think the same, we bought our first motorhome last year, since moving back from Australia where had Camper trailer to get away in for family holidays, we started doing the Eurocamp holidays, which were fantastic but quiet pricey when you throw in flights , rental car etc. We drove last year from Longford to Costa bravo, to the same camp again, it saved us quiet a bit and we took in lots of places on the way, this year was to be the maiden voyage with our Camper, it has been put off now, bit the cost to travel and camp for 3 weeks , still came in cheaper than 2 weeks in Eurocamp cabin. If you can afford to out lay the cost, your camper will pay you back in savings over 7 or 8 years just on package holidays alone, plus you have the freedom to what you want when you want and explore at your own pleasure, its was a no brainer of a decision for us, and we look forward to soon getting out on road again.

what is annoying is that Cornwall is fairly low in covid cases and only has one hospital.
You can bet your bottom dollar that thousands of second homers will have crept in too.
Just waiting for our number of infections to rocket!
Not to mention the bad name it gives to all motorhomers...grrr
AND all the toilets are still closed!
rant over 😢

There's definitely a bit of desperation in the air and a lot of people are looking into vans now that their trips "off island" will be cancelled for the forseable future or will be very akward or expensive.

When I put up my van for sale, I had a million calls and people interested, most of them first time buyers as my van was priced at the lower entry level. I did sell quite quickly and had a few guys going crazy for it, if it wasn't because of the travel restrictions I probably would have sold the van in just a few days.

I do see the same trend of prices going up and people buying them, I almost regret not holding on to it a little bit longer and asking for more, but I would have felt wrong I guess....

I hope all these new campervaners cope on with the appropiated etiquette and not ruin the little we have with bad behaviour.

I had reason to go to a building site this morning to secure a fence panel that had got dislodged overnight with the wind,it was near Portrush and I observed at least 2 cars passing me with extra clothes and sleeping bags in the back seats.
People are definitely starting to disobey the rules.

Stuck an old trailer tent on Facebook this morning for £50 as it needs some work and has been sitting round for years and I was given it for free anyway. Phone took off with people looking to pay me straight away and drive on a 100 mile trip to get it! Anything for camping must be snapped up so quickly Person who bought it is just going to strip it to use it to take stuff to car boot sales. Bit of a waste..

The truth is that eBay do not give a flying fu ck,the storey that we had on here in recent days proves that.
Despite the original listing for that motorhome now with a warning displayed stating that despite numerous contacts to eBay there is a bogus listing advertising it for half the price the bogus one is still there.
I have reported it to eBay several times with no action taken.
So much for eBay always spouting about their protection.

I’m still in negotiations with the scamming bolxxxks.... hopefully enough info now to identity him. I’ve teased him with cash.
I’ve also reported this to ebay...... their lack of ‘customer care’ is astounding.

I also reported it twice over two days.

There is a member on the autosleeperownersforum who used to scan the adverts on eBay, although specifically for Autosleeper brand vehicles and would report those which were or had a good probability of being scams. He was reporting several each week, often on a daily basis. He posted links regularly. It was like that arcade game ‘whack a mole’ as fast as they were removed the same vehicle (often a hijacked advert and photos) would appear under a different seller.

Unless e bay bring in some sort of coding that identifies brand, year and price band that is approx correct at time of posting then I think we are peeing up agin the wall. I wonder are those who are conned also the type of people who are prepared to buy knock off replicas of goods. Buyer beware. I sympathise but I also have my doubts as to wether some people ever use common sense.

As most are aware I was negotiating up until last night until he sent me a boxxox of a makeshift passport and asked me to forward mine to him.
I had had enough and blew a gasket, needless to say there was no more communication and I sent Ally a list of the emails.
I don't think he will getting in touch with me again.

would it need to be yellow? :-/ >_<
jcb
Sorry.😁🤤
what sort of licence have you got, have you any experience of driving larger vehicles.
5berths of any size and comfort will be over the 3.5ton so you will need more then a car licence.
How old are the children, will you need bunks or can you put them into a big double, are you going to use it on campsites only, how long will you hope to use it for(as children get older )
You need as standard
5 seats with belts (full L&D ),if poss,
cassette toilet ,shower,
hot water and heating system,
fridge working on all 3 ways ,
good cooking with oven if poss, maybe microwave.
leisure battery,
An awning with enclosed sides would be good with children.keeping there stuff together at night and a play room in bad weather. somewhere for you to sit and relax when you have finally beaten them to bed.
good storage.
Above all,mechanicaly sound and
NO DAMP.
someone who knows what they are looking for,to check it out .
make a list of what you need and check everything, make the seller show you everything working and all the paperwork.
Remember its your hard earned money and there are lots who will try tale you for a chump.
Don,t buy anything on someone's recommendation who you would not thrust your children with.
All the best of luck.keep asking the questions.

As Sprinter has said. No damp would be very important along with good payload. A family of five can soon eat into the payload if you want to bring bicycles chairs tables etc.

Here's an example of a good starter motorhome which has lots of accommodation and can be driven on a car licence. CLICK HERE
Note: I know nothing about this vehicle, I just came across it and thought it represents a good example to cover the requirements of two adults and three children.

We have the Rollerteam Autoroller 707, with 6 beds, 6 belts and under 3500kg. (Car licence) Although ours is 2016, they have been on the go for a while and Are very popular in the hire business.

We have a six birth Rimor Superbrig plated at 3500kgs so B license. Its got 6 seatbelts and we tour with our 3 boys aged 7 to 12.

We've had it just over 3 years and thus far our 3 boys have shared the overcab bed and we use the fixed rear bed leaving the dinette always as seats and table for us at night and them in the morning.

We have a big garage for storage under the fixed rear bed, apparently irs a popular model in the motocross community as it can fit 2 motocross bikes (we don't do moticross, just a reference for size), as long as there's no weigh bridge involved.

It's on a twin rear wheel Transit chassis so it'll never look overloaded or be overloaded by axel weights but I have a set of theory test books for the C license beside my bed right now because its time to face reality and get at least a C1 license.

That's the way to go you won't regret it, the last thing you want is to be all set up for your holiday and run into some Guy in uniform who is having a bad day and tells you to park your van and get a taxi home.

Bunk beds are a good option. I changed my MH as the kids grew up and wanted their own space. You might have a problem getting a garage and bunks
