I got done medical report through a combination of email/phone with my GP, but I have to wait for an appointment with NDLS whenever they're back in the office.

The renewal date of your new licence will be the anniversary of the date on the medical report, not when it will be issued. So it could be worthwhile to get a fresh medical report dated closer to when your renewal application is going in, ideally, both should be on the same date.
Just heard from the DVLA after applying for a licence renewal and being over 70 and wanting to retain my. C1 +e they have deferred the medical for a year and are issuing my licence
