Smev Oven Installation

Hi all.

I haven't posted here for a few years but I'm looking for a bit of advice.

I've been wanting to put an oven in our 98 Hymer Swing for ages. Problem is that the ovens are quite expensive.

However, I recently picked up a free (used) Smev/Dometic gas oven from a friends damaged caravan. It's working perfectly. Happy days.

I've no problem installing it myself but my question is this.

For my gas feed, I have only 3 isolator taps on the manifold. These isolate the hob, fridge and water/space heater.

I want to use the existing gas feed to the hob and tee it off to the oven. This means I will have one gas isolator tap serving both the hob and new oven.

Those of you that have a separate hob and oven, do you have a separate isolator tap for each or are both fed from one isolator tap?

I'd rather not have to buy a 4 tap manifold but if I have to, then that's what I'll do. Just checking first though.

Hope all of that makes sense.

Thanks
Denis.

My Adria has one tap feeding the heater and the oven,
The oven is situated above the heater and is tee'd off that, (previous owner had that fitted)

There is no restriction on fitting the oven yourself. However, under current safety regulations, you must get a certified gas installer to do the connection work.
Penalties for non-compliance include a fine of up to €15,000 and/or imprisonment for up to 3 years

This debate came up on Faecebook a few days ago.

If you fit something for yourself in NI and for your own use, I think that there is no such fine. Anyone know different? Not that I would necessarily advise it.

The actual argument was about fitting refillable gas bottles. Now to me, you are not breaking the gas system and it is not that much different to screwing in and out an ordinary gas bottle. Stephen North got slightly annoyed at me saying I was wrong. I don't believe I am.

Prepared to be proved wrong though if someone can show me the proof.

Sorry for swaying off topic slightly 🥴

Thanks all.
Helps a lot. Might just tee it in to the stove line.
@baguette, Do such laws exist in the republic?

The rules in the Energy (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 2006, which require that any work must be completed by a person registered with Gas Installers of Ireland (RGII), apply 'to systems in leisure accommodation vehicles'
