Had a text today from Irish Ferries stating that the Dublin/Cherbourg sailing for Saturday was in doubt because of Storm Dennis. Stena have cancelled their sailings from Rosslare/Cherbourg for Saturday so am thinking about Dublin to Holyhead and Dover/Calais. It’s going to add about 390 miles to the journey, just have to persuade the missus now

I work at Dublin port at the Irish Ferries container terminal , The Holyhead boat sails 99% of time, she takes some stopping .

I know forecast for Shipping is not great, port is on standby to be closed.

We got the boat Dublin to Holyhead and it wasn't that bad as we had a cabin. To be fair it wasnt that rough. We are now sitting in a garage south of Oxford waiting for the front part of the exhaust to be delivered. I was bombing down the M40 when the two parts of the exhaust separated.

Yes better to be in England. The people at the garage were brilliant. They ordered a new part of the exhaust and a guy delivered it in his own car because they were closing at 1pm. It's not very often you get service like that

That is great service. There is a lot more of that happening, but we don’t hear about it until it happens to someone in your social circle. We are so used to hearing bad news only, that the good news stories seem much rarer nowadays. Enjoy the trip. I’m finished philosophising 😜

Just arrived at Meribel. It was a horrendous drive with the high winds even in central France. We were pushing into a headwind most of the way which brought the mpg down. One fill I recorded at 16.8mpg. Even with the recent remapping I was getting it tight to reach 60 in places. Ah well if you drive a brick what can you expect
