Composting toilets

These are gaining huge popularity, no smells, no chemicals, longer lasting. This one has a separator so number 1's go one way and......

It's the mixing of the two that creates the smell.

They seem to be the next big thing, also a great saving on water usage.

I've been pretty interested in this idea for a while now, looking at a few vanlife vlogs from the States and they all seem to be going this way. Seems like a great idea, most I've seen get a month or more without having to empty the solid waste and no smells. They're not much bigger than most cassette toilets either. We have a fixed cassette toilet in our van though so would be a pretty big mod to put one in plus I don't think the kids are old enough yet to get the idea of the urine separator. They're also really expensive still.

I have seen a company in the UK that sell a urine separator kit that you can fit to a regular toilet, I was toying with the idea of seeing if I could hack my Tetford cassette toilet with one of these. I wonder if there were just solids going into the tank how much extra you would get out of it? I'd say cleaning it could be tricky though. I thought there might have been someone online who has tried this already but haven't been able to find anything yet.

It's a toilet seat, what do you normally sit on? :)

They are, I think very worthwhile though, not having to empty for a week or more would be marvellous. I'm considering one.
