Not to soon.

I think we have more or less peeked for the last while with membership on MHC we made a fast climb to 4000 members but are struggling to reach 5000, currently at 4968

I think there is a simple explanation, how many Motorhomers in ireland? 12000? half of which are very elderly and maybe either not on the internet or have one of those Facebook Tablets (I can't resist, can I?)

So that leaves 6000, we have 5000 of those and the other 1000 prefer inferior forms of media such as, you guessed it, Facebook.

Now those are scientific figures so discredit them at your peril.

We are getting new members all the time but it has slowed away down, not a bad thing, just a thing. Overall in the face of competition and all that has happened in the last year, Motorhomecraic is still beating the competition hands down for new content and posts and a lot of other things.

Keep 'er craic'ing folks :)

There is always a critical mass Ally, as you say there is “x” amount of people with motorhomes and we always have the overseas members and then the ones who join when visiting/planning a visit to the Island.
Motorhomecraic is still the #1 for all things motorhoming on the Island, if a question is asked on the UK forums about Ireland then 90% + of the time a referral to this forum is mentioned.........
Facebook is only a “chatbox” and info gleaned there sinks in the torrent of cyberspace and becomes useless within days, hence the same questions being asked time after time after time as info is not categorized nor databased....... this of course is to the benefit of the motorhomecraic website/forum platform......
and that my old buddy isn’t stopping anytime soon.

Well if the staff were a bit more Humble and not so heigh handed .we might get more members.
What do you think new prospective members thing when they see the total disregard the staff have for the membership .

If you don't agree with my analysis.

Just think back to the 3 day holiday they took recently , without a taught for the needs of the membership. ;-)

The principles and content of mhc is brillant and the changes implemented over the year or so has made everything very organised. I have noticed over the last few months, topics from years ago been updated, so folks are reading the old info, because it is still very revalant.
On the other mainstream social media platforms, the posts are continous questions mixed with photos and piss take stuff.
If my grandmother was still alive, she would turning a 100 years old and she had a great saying regarding media, " yesterday's newspaper, is tommorow's doormat". This still revalant in today's market.
Keep up the good work,
Malcolm

I regularly visit 9 (sad) Motorhome forums and one Facebook page.

Considering the low numbers of Motorhomes in Ireland, the only site to have the vibrancy of craic is wildcamping, so we are a very healthy group. Most of the others depend on non Motorhome content for their posts. However like most forums we are dependant on a small core of contributors. I think a better measure of success for any forum would be a measure of the number of contributors over a set period of 6 months or a year. Motorhomefacts stats show they had/have 95,000 members, but there are about 10 regular contributors saving it from collapse.

I visit the Hymer owners group Facebook page for the sole reason that there is no dedicated Hymer forum of note and they have 5000 members, although regular posters are but a handful. Having said that it pains me to have to trawl through all the guff and repetition for the occasional gems, although they can be worth the effort.

So I guess I am saying well done us, we are one of the top forums in the British isles.

I am not exceptionally active on MHC, (I seems to go in bursts) but I really find it helpful and friendly, with appropriate banter.
I must admit that I enjoy the MHC community and it is my first port of call if I have query, technical or otherwise.
It is an excellent forum, if I used it more often I might be able to keep up with some of technical developments, such as how to attach photos etc. 😨 But that is where the MHC is top class- everybody will assist you and tell you how to deal with the issues, such as attachments etc without making you feel inadequate.
Regards to all
Franco

Who'd pay for the widening of the doors and raising of the roofs of a few vans/motorhomes ? ( swelled heads an all )

Funny, the show this year at the old Maze site (Eikon ??) must of had one of the biggest gathering of motorhomes ever on the Island, yet not a single report on any of the TV media.... maybe a heads up to them for the next one would be an idea.

Do you still have an old camper about that we could turn into an advertising wagon. Park it at the entrance to such events. Then call the media.

Despite the original post, we keep on growing!! It's great to be wrong in this instance.

About to hit 7000 members and still growing. That's bloody good going considering the 'ready made' accounts that social media groups have. Ours are actual members not members of a platform.

Onwards and upwards for Motorhome Craic ! 👍

Because the forum is the bogs dollocks ... one stop shop for everything motorhoming, under one roof, searchable, big base of knowledge in posts, got a club, lays claim to the only legitimate map on a proper award winning app.....
remind us why the forum/website continue to keep growing ?????
Raise a glass to the future & aim to make 2020 a year to remember.

Merry Christmas MHC, thanks for making memories.

It's quite amazing. It usually drops away off this time of year yet it hasn't this year. I usually see a large pick up in traffic around the second to third week in January every year so it will be interesting to see that this time.
